Jim Harding...
...was born in Pender Harbour, but lived on Nelson Island, British Columbia until the family moved to Gibsons where he has lived ever since.Jim worked on commercial fishboats and tugs until he decided to start a small wood-carving business. This led to trying chainsaw carving, and he has been carving ever since.
The power saw is the main tool, then grinders, and finally rotary tools for finer features. Most of Jim's carvings are made from red or yellow cedar; woods that stand up to the elements quite well, and are also Jim's favourite woods to carve.
Jim has tried many different carvings, but figures are his favourite.
